Teeny tiny lunches

Posted on: July 29, 2011

Yesterday my little one, Miss A, started her first 1/2 day at preschool.  She is a healthy eater, but she’s still only 18 months old.  I wanted to make sure to be realistic about the portions and include some of her favorite foods.  I also bought some new BPA free bento boxes for smaller portion sizes that I’m trying out.  I bought them at  http://www.Japanistic.com

The squirrel container had small heart and flower shaped PB & Js on sprouted wheat.  The heart container has mandarin oranges on the right and edamame and strawberries on the left.  Not included in the picture was a Lifeway flavored kefir pouch.

Big sis got her PJ & J on the same sprouted wheat bread with a triangle face (chocolate sprinkle face stuck on with Nutella) and a small man shaped sandwich.  On the left is a new treat that I found at Whole Foods.  A Clif Kid organic fruit twist, and in the bento box are mandarin oranges, strawberries and edamame on colorful flower & petal picks.

Thanks for showcasing our bento! I’ve done a blog post about it on the Japanistic Blog. http://www.japanistic.com/blog/teeny-tiny-lunches-at-bentoriffic-with-help-from-japanistic/

Can’t wait to see what else you do! Cheers and have a lovely weekend.

Aw, those are adorable! And good thing the fruit twists are better than the Clif bars (http://livinglearningeating.wordpress.com/2011/08/03/jamming-it-up/)

Thanks a bunch!

Wow! I’m so impressed with all of the creative ideas. The idea I took away as a Kindergarten teacher today was the edamame on the pretty skewers. Simple and neat for serving! I’d like to focus on more healthy snacks in the afternoon and your blog looks like a very special resource! Nissa Roberts passed along your site. 🙂
Thank you!

Thank you, Mindy! I’m happy that you enjoy the ideas, and I’m glad I can share. That Nissa is a keeper!
