Dora and a mermaid…sort of

Posted on: August 12, 2011

I was excited to try making a little Dora sandwich for the little one . Dora is her favorite.  I simply cut a circle for the face out of whole grain bread.  I cut the fruit leather hair with the top half of a circle cutter and then cut the small pieces by hand.  I used the royal icing eyes and cut the bottoms off .  The rest of the face is fruit leather as well for the pupils, nose, mouth & tongue.  More leftover macaroni & cheese with veggies mixed in, blueberries and strawberries for the sides.

Little Miss G got sort of a strange creation for her lunch.  It started out at Rapunzel, but it wasn’t coming a long well and it was late last night so she ended up with my creation of a mermaid.  She has a whole grain sandwich for the face.  The body and tail are the heel of the bread.  She has a fruit leather face and think spaghetti hair sprinkled with fresh romano.  Organic blueberries are underneath her and two heart shaped strawberries are next to her.  Her carrot flowers are covering the girly parts and the rest of the carrots are supposed to be the scales of her tail.  Miss G told me it looked like a messy doll, but she ate it all anyway.

Have a great weekend, everyone!
