I had a great plan for lunch which I’ll have to attempt on another day.  It was a massive fail that ended in torn bread blobs.  Thank goodness for my LunchPunches which knock out a cute lunch in seconds flat.  These ice cream cones are part of the new Sweet collection available through Amazon.  They come in sets of 4 different punches, and they’re great for quick cute lunches.

Miss G requested an almond butter and chocolate (nutella) today so I obliged. It’s on whole grain bread and the dinosaur colored sprinkles are stuck on with agave nectar.  We’re slowly transitioning off animal products, but I do have a ton of stuff left so I’m trying not to waste it.  She has a BabyBel cheese with hearts cut out of it.  I used the wax leftover to place on the sandwich just for fun.  She has carrot sticks, a mini apple (with bow pick) and a flamingo pick with blueberries on it.  Not pictured is her ice water.

Miss A gets a smaller version since she doesn’t like and can’t eat some of the same foods.  She’s still choking on apple pieces and carrots so I omit them. She has a plain sandwich on whole grain with Smart Deli “meat” veggie turkey slices, a BabyBel cheese with the same hearts cutout and blueberries.

In a separate container is leftover Annie’s organic macaroni spirals and edamame on top.  She also has ice water with her lunch today.

I found out today that Miss G will be in angel in her Christmas program tomorrow.  Nothing like finding out last minute!  I guess she decided that it wasn’t important enough to tell me.  Today she had an angel shaped Wow! soybutter and jelly sandwich in her LunchBots stainless bento box. I “painted” the wings with honey and sprinkled on snowflake candy to make them white.  The halo is a snack from a friend who sent Asian treats.  If I only read Japanese, I could tell you what they are!  They tasted sort of like salty potato chip rings.  She has bread crust hair, eyes and mouth.  The BabyBel cheese has a small angel cutout and the wax leftover was placed on the sandwich for fun.  In the red silicone cup are mandarin oranges with sunflower seeds covered with red, white & green chocolate. I love them because they look like little ornaments or the vintage colored lights.  Also hidden to the far right is a long pick of fresh blueberries.

Miss A has actually been eating more of her mini sandwiches so I decided to try again today.  She got a tree and Santa’s sleigh on whole wheat with ham and provolone inside with a side of leftover Annie’s Organic macaroni shells to the right.  I put tree and star shaped marshmallow shapes on top for her treat.  She also had a mini container of mandarins sprinkled with the same sunflower seeds.  Both girls also had Lifeway flavored kefir with lunch.

OK. So posting this a day later, the sunflower seeds on mandarins was a terrible idea.  The chocolate melted & made them look nasty!  In the future I’d only put them on something that isn’t so runny or if you’re serving them right away it should be fine.

Hope everyone finds some peace and enjoyment during the holiday chaos!

Miss G is finally back to school this week after a long spell of being at home sick.  She wanted a leaf today so she got a maple leaf turkey & cheese sandwich with mini carrots below and a small piece of Halloween candy wedged in.  On the right are watermelon maple & oak leaves and a pick of pineapple and grapes.  She had an ice water & Lifeway berry kefir pouch to drink.

My littlest pumpkin had a small lunch today.  She hasn’t been eating much lunch in the past week.  She also got 2 flowers (turkey & cheese) with green snap peas, a cup of pineapple chunks and watermelon and leftover Annie’s macaroni (her favorite food).  She also had an ice water and a Lifeway flavored kefir with her lunch.

Hope you’ll forgive my absence!  I took an unexpected trip, but I’m back on target now.   Back to Halloween!

Little Miss 3.5 got an eyeball surprise in her lunch today.  I used a wine glass to cut the circle for her PB & J.  I took a red food safe marker to draw the veins and a gummy eyeball for the center.  The sandwich is surrounded by grape tomatoes and 2 marshmallow bats.  The mouth below is 2 large apple slices (soaked in lemon water for a few minutes to prevent browning) with mini marshmallows for teeth.  Around the mouth are red seedless grapes.

Little Miss 1.5 also got a fun lunch today.  To the left is Annie’s Organic spiral macaroni leftover with a tomato face on top. On the right are mandarin oranges with a colby cheese ghost on top.

And a jack-o-lantern PB & J with a couple of fun marshmallows for a treat.  On the left are red, seedless grapes and 2 colby cheese ghosts on top.  For bigger kids, you can make the jelly bleed out of the face by removing punchouts, but my kids just end up with lunch all over them so I try to save the clothing.

I love cookie cutters.  If you’re running short on time in the morning, like I usually am, it’s a great way to make a cute lunch with minimal effort.  I also found the tiny star cutters in Michael’s in the cake decorating aisle.  They are fondant cutters.  She had her usual peanut butter & jelly with a royal icing eye (purchased through Amazon), honey wheat pretzel braids to dip in her hummus, and mozzarella cheese stars.  Her fruit bento is manadarin oranges, watermelon stars and blackberries.

Little A has been sort of an enigma.  It’s the toddler thing.  One day she’s crazy about a food and the next she flat out refuses it.  I have to keep trying new things.  Today she had the same star theme for her lunch.   The heart bento has mandarin oranges on the left with mozzarella cheese stars and watermelon stars on the right.  In the blue bento she has Annie’s Organic Macaroni & cheese shells on the bottom with carrots and Applegate ham stars on top.

Ever since I made the Kai Lan bento, Miss G has continued to ask me to make it.  I asked her who her 2nd favorite character is, and she said Rintoo.   Rintoo is Kai Lan’s little tiger friend who is loud & playful.  I used a kitchen glass upside down to cut his face and a small circle cutter to cut his ears.  The stripes are the heel of the bread handcut with a knife.  He has fruit leather eyes and mouth with vanilla yogurt covered raisin bits for the pupils and his snaggletooth.

Along with Rintoo, Miss G has flower carrots on the left, the pig container contains ranch dip and the bamboo shaped watermelon chunks.  The watermelon actually looks like upside down bats…note to self for Halloween!   On the right are seedless green grapes with some fun decorative picks.

Miss A gets Annie’s Organic macaroni shells on the bottom covered by corn off the cob, three little colby cheese bears and leftover chicken breast pieces.  The middle bear has black sesame seed eyes.

Which way to the fruit?  Quartered seedless green grapes with watermelon arrows and a blackberry in the middle.

Mr. Working Man gets his usual sandwich and a giant bento of fruits & veggies to keep him healthy. Included are watermelon chunks (some hidden), seedless green grapes, mini carrots, blackberries on toothpicks, 2 medjool dates and a Babybel cheese in the middle.

Miss G requested the dog in the doghouse for her sandwich today.  This is another cutter made by LunchPunch.  I purchased mine on Amazon.   Today it’s just a PB & J on whole grain bread.  The red thing is a Babybel cheese with a small bone cut out of it.  I used the wax bow for the puppy collar and a black sesame seed for the puppy’s eye.

To go along with Miss G’s sandwich, I gave her a giant piece of watermelon shaped like a bone, raspberries and star fruit or carambola which she loves.

Little A got a mixture of leftovers for her entree today.  On the left side buried is spaghetti squash with grated parmesan and cheese pizza and meatballs shaped like flowers on top.  On the right side is the fruit.  She got dates underneath her slice of starfruit.  She doesn’t like the starfruit, but the experts say it takes an average of 19 times of a child trying something new before they will acquire a taste for it so the starfruit is my A for effort.  She also has a couple of raspberries and flower shaped watermelon pieces.

Lastly, Miss A got more Annie’s leftover macaroni spirals which she loves and whole wheat cous cous with a fun panda food separator.  I’m out of kefir so both kids got a frozen squeezable yogurt tube today in their lunches.
