My kids aren’t normally in school Tuesdays, but my mother-in-law is visiting this week.  Their school was kind enough to let me switch days so I could get a few things done at home.  For the pip squeak, I decided on little bears.  She loves Goodnight Moon and the 3 bears sitting on chairs.  These are just PB & Js on whole grain bread. The faces are stamped out of fruit leather with my tiny face cutters.  I used a tiny silicone bear to put her blueberries in.  The separate smaller bento is raspberries and a Babybel cheese with a teddy bear stamped out of the wax.   Both of the Elph & Epha bento containers are part of the new collection I bought from http://www.japanistic.com.  They are the perfect size for little lunches and snacks, and they are BPA free so no worry of leaching chemicals into food.  I usually include a Lifeway kefir pouch for their daily probiotics and an ice water.

Big sis wanted to help with her lunch today so it got a bit sloppy.  She wanted 3 bunnies sandwiches in her lunch.  She also has PB & Js on whole grain with fruit leather faces, a packet of Annie’s organic fruit bunnies for dessert.  The top part of the LunchBots Duo bento is a silicone bunny container with cashews, organic strawberries & blueberries and colby jack bunnies with black sesame seed faces.

Miss G requested a fish this morning so I used the template from http://funkylunch.com/gallery.htm.  The cookbook that he has is great because it is simple and uses ingredients that most people have already in their refrigerators.  I made a sandwich and then sliced a large carrot with a mandoline and cut the slices to fit.  The eye is the premade royal icing eye and the smile is made from fruit leather.  Underneath the fish are heart shaped green crisps from the asian food store, and the bottom portion is red, seedless grapes and blueberries.

Little Miss A went for her second day today.  Her lunch was leftover Annie’s Organic Macaroni Shells with edamame topped with a cheese cat and fruit leather face.  She also had sliced blueberries, red, seedless grapes in a silicone cat cup and the same green crisps.  She also had a Lifeway kefir pouch and a GoGo squeez applesauce pouch.

Miss G asked for a cow last night that looks like her Pillow Pet.  I used a kitchen glass to make 2 circles and then cut off the sides to make the shape for the face.  I used the scraps to make the horns, ears and eyes.  I used the heel of the bread for the nose and spot on its head.  I just punched some holes for the nostrils which can be done with a straw.  I used Nutella to stick on the nose, and the ears & horns are just wedged under the bread.  The edamame/soy beans are on decorative pics along with green grapes, a couple of carrots and Rainier cherries.  I’m including a picture of the Kefir pouches I send with her each day.  They are like a tart flavored yogurt which she likes, and it gets in her daily probiotics.
