Last week one of my friends posted a photo of kiwi berries.  I had never seen or heard of them so it was a must find for me!  We love kiwi, and I was hoping the flavor was similar.  I was lucky enough to find them at a stand at the local farmer’s market.  They only had a few, but I’ll be back for more after trying them!

Here’s what they look like inside.  They are the size of grapes and sweet like kiwi without the fuzzy exterior.  Just pop them in like grapes and eat.  They have a very short season so if you’re lucky enough to find them, buy them and enjoy!

Both girls had the same wraps today for lunch.  From the top left are raspberries and 3 kiwi berries on top.  Inbetween the 2 cups are mini carrots and at the top right is a cup of lemon orzo.  In the bottom container are red seedless grapes and the veggie wrap pinwheels.  They are Rudi’s brand whole grain spelt tortillas.  I used a homemade sunflower seed spread and added julienned carrots and steamed edamame.

Below are Miss G’s snacks for school.  The top are watermelon flowers and the bottom is a cup of sprouted pumpkin seeds and dried cranberries mixed and grape tomatoes.

From the top left are red seedless grapes with sliced strawberries on top.  In the top right compartment are kiwi berries, 2 pieces of corn shaped mini cornbread muffins and 3 grape tomatoes.  At the bottom right are watermelon and d’anjou pear flowers, and in the bottom left are the same edamame and carrot wraps at the bottom right packed in her LunchBots Quad.

I’ll bet you can’t guess what letter they’re teaching at school this week!  It’s W week so I attempted my version of a windmill for Miss G.  I hand cut the base out of whole grain bread flattened with a rolling pin.  Then I decided to do Snyder’s pretzel squares stuck on crackers with Justin’s almond butter to make the blades. . At the top right are yellow tomatoes we grew in our backyard for the hair and a larger cherry tomato for the face.  I used vegan cheese to cut a winking face to go with the W theme.  At the bottom right are blueberries and a strawberry W.   Her lunch is packed in her Easy Lunch Box.

Miss A is having a W and a worm for lunch today.  From the top left are watermelon stars, cashews, a sliced strawberry a pick of blueberries and dried cherries with an apricot heart on top.  Her lunch is packed in a LunchBots stainless container.

My husband also gets a salad today to go with his lunch.  His salad is baby spinach leaves and butter lettuce with watermelon radish shaped into small pie pieces and a heart in the middle.  He also has a green onion on it, yellow carrots from the local market.  At the top right he has a bunch of mini carrots, and at the bottom right .  His lunch is also packed in an Easy Lunch Box.

Happy Monday to everyone!

Mommy wasn’t taking any requests this morning so I wanted something cute and fast.  I decided to roll up sliced turkey on pretty picks for lunch for the girls.  Miss G got turkey & colby jack on her pretty decorative pics (hard to see here) with black beans in the squirrel container, mini carrots & ranch dip in the green lion container, Annie’s Organic cheddar bunnies at top left and white chocolate covered chex mix at top right for a treat.

Both girls got containers of cottage cheese and leaf shaped watermelon on top today and a side of raspberries.

Little Miss A had a smaller version of the same lunch.  She doesn’t have enough teeth for carrots yet.  On the left are the same turkey & colby jack roll ups, but I put hers on broken pieces of thin spaghetti (thanks for the tip, P!)  She’s too little for the decorative picks, and the pasta softens once the food is on it so she won’t choke.  Underneath the meat & cheese are black beans.  On the right are dried cherries at the bottom, cashews and salty, heart shaped crisps.

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend!
