Happy Hump Day!  In addition to the letter X this week, the girls are also learning about flowers in school this week.

Miss G has 2 flower sandwiches on Ezekiel Low Sodium bread.  Above the flowers in the flower cup she has raspberries surrounding a cantaloupe flower.  At the top right are blueberries underneath a pear flower with a blueberry in the middle.  At the bottom right are sugar snap peas with a cup of brown and wild rice in a flower cup on top of them and a flower cup of cashews.

Miss A has 2 matryoshka dolls, also known as Russian nesting dolls, for lunch.  They are also on Ezekiel bread with fruit leather hair and faces. Underneath the dolls are sugar snap peas.  At the bottom left she has watermelon and cantaloupe flowers.  At the top left she has a cup of pineapples underneath blueberry stuffed raspberries.  I saw some of my other blogger friends doing this, and I thought it was so cute and clever!

My husband has a spinach salad today topped with a cucumber X and heirloom tomato slices.  At the top right is white bean bruschetta with tomatoes, fresh basil, garlic and red wine vinegar.  At the bottom right is a cup of mini carrots and a piece of purple cauliflower in the middle and blueberries around the cauliflower.  All 3 lunches today are packed in Easy Lunch Boxes.

So the kids are out of school for the next couple of weeks which means lunches at home.   Today Miss G requested candy canes so I threw together a simple version for her.  She had a ham sandwich on whole grain bread.  I used small apple slices to make the stripes on the candy cane. Next to it is a BabyBel cheese with a Christmas tree cut out of it.  Above the sandwich on the right is another apple shaped like a candy cane with stripes cut out of it and to the left are raspberries.

Today was my attempt at a pilgrim.  I ended up using a gingerbread man cookie cutter rather than hand cutting as I had hoped. The letters and buckle on the hat and the mouth are apple fruit leather.  For the pilgrim’s eyes, I used small candy pieces.   The acorns are dried apricots.  I found a bag of organic orchard apples at my local grocery store which are the perfect toddler size.  The “give thanks” is on sliced green apples.  The red BabyBel cheese with maple leaf removed is below the small apple, and on the bottom right are raspberries.

Little Miss A had a simple lunch today since she is discarding most of the bread I send.  She gets turkey rolled up, mozzarella string cheese sliced, and on the right are watermelon chunks underneath dried apricot leaves.  Both girls get ice water and flavored kefir with their lunches.
