Aloha and Happy Friday!

Little Miss 4 year old has a simple lunch.  In her Sistema sandwich sized bento box, she has pineapple pieces, Soy Boy brand dairy free ravioli, hibiscus shaped watermelon pieces and sliced mini carrots.

For her preschool snack, she has a Wholly Guacamole brand 100 calorie snack pack of guacamole, Trader Joe’s edamame crackers for dipping, and 2 Crimson Gold apples.  Below is a small container of Marcona almonds.

Wishing everyone has a great weekend ahead.  I’ll be doing a giveaway next week like I promised a while back.  I am thankful for so many people who read and appreciate me sharing lunches so stay tuned!

Today is an important day.  Not the day to be apathetic & say that your voice doesn’t make a difference.  It does.  As Americans, we have the great privilege of living in a country that allows us freedoms and rights that were fought for and earned.  Regardless of who you will vote for, please go today and exercise your rights!

I made Miss G a patriotic bento today.  She has grilled non-dairy grilled cheese (Daiya brand) sandwiches on whole grain and pumpernickel with 2 tiny crimson gold apples and a Liberty Bell pick, dried apricots and an Easy LunchBoxes mini dippers container with cashews.  In the top left compartment are yellow and red grape tomatoes and at the top right is vegan pesto pasta with an American flag pick packed in her Easy LunchBoxes container.

Miss G’s snack from the top left are carambola/star fruit slices, a peeled clementine, star shaped watermelon pieces and plum slices in her LunchBots Uno.

Miss A has her scaled down version of the same lunch.  From the top left she has sliced strawberries, vegan pesto pasta, watermelon stars and Daiya grilled (dairy free) cheese sandwiches.

Happy Monday!  It’s a perfect fall day here in Florida.  Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!

Miss G is the only one in school today.  She has a Rudi’s brand Cinnamon Raisin spelt bagel with almond butter & jam.  I stuck on two candy eyes with almond butter.  Next to the sandwich she has grapes and raspberries.  The hair is Shirataki tofu noodles.  The face reminds me a bit of Beeker from The Muppets.  At the top left is leftover rice pilaf and the top right are watermelon pieces packed in her Easy LunchBoxes container.

For her snack she has sliced kiwi and sections of Dapple Dandy Pluots packed in a sistema snack bento.

We recently got in our new LunchBots thermal insulated containers for winter soups & stews.  It keeps foods hot of cold for hours.  This morning I put in boiling water, let it stand in the container for about 10 minutes, poured it out and poured in the heated stew.

Last night’s dinner was Gardein brand “beef” tips made of vital wheat gluten and cooked in vegetable broth with a mixture of vegetables including potatoes, carrots, fresh corn off the cob, celery, edamame and tomatoes with some spices added.

Spiders!  These are the delicious kind.  I happen to like most spiders, but I know many people are creeped out by them.

Miss G’s lunch today is an almond butter sandwich (bottom left) on Rudi’s Whole Grain bread.  She has spider picks of grape tomatoes on either side and a homemade vegan cornbread muffin with raisin eyes.  At the top left are strawberries with a honeydew spider and a plastic spider ring for decoration.  At the top right are red seedless grapes with honeydew spiders on top packed in her Easy LunchBoxes container.

For her  snack, Miss G has a Happy Tiffin bento packed with a seckel pear and raspberries.  In the container is apricot soy yogurt with some spiders for fun.

I packed another snack for a longer day so Miss G also had watermelon cubes in her sistema container with a raw date treat with coconut sprinkled on it.  It reminded me of a tarantula.

Little Miss 2 year old had her LunchBots Quad with red grapes at the top left in the spider cup, raspberries and a strawberry, almond butter spider sandwiches at the bottom right and at the bottom left is a cup of dried cranberries and sprouted seasoned pumpkin seeds.

Hot!  That’s what fall is like in Florida.  While everyone else gets cool evenings and crunchy fall leaves with gorgeous color, we’re still sweating and pretending it’s summer.  I remember the good old days when October meant snow in Minnesota where I grew up.  My kids don’t know any better so I made some Florida fall bento lunches.

Packed in her sistema brand lunchbox, my 4 year old has kiwi slices with a clementine peel squirrel on top, mini acorn sandwiches, black seedless grapes and orange cantaloupe leaves.

For her snacks today, Miss G has grape tomatoes with mini carrots and in a smaller container she has trail mix with cashews, walnuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, and dried fruit.

I like to change things up between kids so my 2 year old is having the same trail mix with a squirrel cutout for decoration.  She also has acorn and pumpkin sandwiches, honeydew leaves and cantaloupe acorns packed in her LunchBots Quad stainless container.

And for the other snack I packed a fall themed squirrel bento with strawberries, plums (underneath) and a peeled clementine orange in the middle.

I’ve shared my love of farmer’s markets before.  I made another trip this weekend and found some dragonfruit and some pear cactus at the Sarasota Farmer’s Market.  The pear cactus turned out to be beautiful and in my opinion a pain to eat with all those tiny seeds.  The kids did try and like the dragonfruit though.

At the top right it’s mixed with pineapple chunks.  It’s a bit like a pear but definitely has its own distinct taste.  At the bottom right are sliced strawberries and blueberries and at bottom left are pears and grapes and almond butter heart pockets made of Rudi’s Whole Grain bread.  The lunch is packed in LunchBots new Quad stainless container.

Miss G has a hear pocket sandwich and 2 small containers of dried fruit and nuts packed in her sistema container.

And she has a LunchBots Uno with black seedless grapes, halved mini carrots, honey mustard in the sauce container, whole wheat israeli cous cous and Whole Soy & Co. brand apricot & mango flavored soy yogurt in the Duck container.

For her snack she has cubed dragonfruit and d’anjou pears in her new rabbit container.

And my husband has leftover dinner of cous cous pilaf with spinach, chickpeas, tomatoes, red onions, olives, and marinaded tofu on top packed in his Easy LunchBox container.  At the top are blueberries and strawberries.

Things I used to make this lunch:

Back on the school train this week for a 4 day week.  Today I used the Lunch Punch train cutter for Miss G’s sandwich.  The wheels are fruit leather, and the cat is the train driver.  She has watermelon pieces, strawberry hearts and small honeydew melon trains below packed in her LunchBots Uno.

Miss A had her first day back to mom’s morning out.  She has a fruit heavy lunch with plums, pineapple, watermelon and raspberries and blueberries clockwise with an apple shaped sandwich for lunch packed in her sistema bento.

I also spent some quality time at the community pool over the weekend with the family.  We had a chance to try out our new picnic sized bento box from BentoUSA.  It was great for family sized snacks without the runny mess!  Hope everyone had some quality downtime to recharge over the weekend.
